Shrek turns 25 this year, and he's never looked better. Still green, still grumpy, still the best-dressed guest at any party.
We make stuff that makes people laugh, so our BigMouth x Shrek 25th Anniversary Collection was never going to sit quietly on a shelf. It was built for hosting. Mugs that finish a costume. Shots that start the party. A candy jar that stops trick-or-treaters mid-step. And there's no better night to break it all out than Halloween.
Here's how to use every piece to throw the greenest party on the block.
Grab the face paint. We're going in.
Welcome to Shrektober
Yes, there's a name for this. The internet has been calling October Shrektober for years, and a Shrek Halloween party goes by Shrekoween. Go bigger and you've got Shrektoberfest: onion-eating contests, roaring competitions and costume prizes.
Need a soundtrack? DreamWorks made an actual Shrek Halloween special, Scared Shrekless (2010), where Shrek and friends hold a scary-story contest in a creepy castle. Put it on loop and the ambience handles itself.
Pick your party name and put it on everything: the invite, the door sign, the group chat.
- Swamp-O-Ween for the full-house costume party
- Shrekoween for the classic costume party
- Shrektoberfest if the drinks are the main event
- Swamp Night for a chill watch party
- Ogre-ween for the neighborhood trick-or-treat crowd
The Mug is the Accessory
A costume is good. A costume with a matching mug is a photo. Our Shrek, Donkey and Fiona mugs are the easiest upgrade to any group costume, and they keep your hands warm on a cold porch.
Each one comes with its own character stirrer: an eyeball for Shrek, a waffle for Donkey, and a bluebird for Fiona. (The bird is safe. We checked.)

- Shrek mug: pair it with green face paint, a vest, a rope belt and an ear headband. Fill it with swamp cider: hot apple cider with a green apple slice. The eyeball stirrer does the rest.
- Fiona mug: pair it with a green gown, a gold crown and a red braid. Fill it with royal hot cocoa topped with whipped cream and gold sprinkles.
- Donkey mug: pair it with a gray hoodie with ears and the biggest grin in the room. Fill it with pumpkin spice chai, because Donkey never stops talking and neither will you.
Host move: hand each guest their character's mug at the door, filled. It becomes their name tag, their costume prop and their party favor in one.
Couples and trios: Shrek and Fiona is the easy win. Add Donkey and you've got the group costume every party has been waiting for.

Shots, Swamp Style
Every good party has a moment where someone yells "shots!" Our Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Gingy shot glass 4-pack turns that moment into a bit. Four characters, four friends, zero arguments about whose glass is whose.
Try a round of these:
- Swamp Water: melon liqueur, pineapple juice, a squeeze of lime. Bright green, dangerously easy.
- Dragon's Breath: cinnamon whiskey. Donkey's glass only, obviously.
- Gingerbread Man Down: Irish cream with a dash of gingerbread syrup. Serve in Gingy's glass.
- Happily Ever Shot: strawberry vodka and a splash of lemonade for the Fiona fans.

Party game: Character Roulette. Set out all four glasses, spin a bottle, and whoever it lands on has to do their best impression of the character on the glass they get. Worst impression takes the next round.
The Outhouse is Open
Our Shrek Outhouse Caddy is the conversation piece of the night. It holds four "Beware of Ogre" coasters, and it is the only outhouse you will ever want on your coffee table.

Three ways to style it:
- Bar cart anchor: set it next to the shot glasses so guests grab a coaster with every drink. Your furniture stays ring-free and your bar looks intentional.
- Front door warning: pull one coaster and prop it in a window or on the porch rail. Trick-or-treaters get the message. Ogre lives here. Proceed if you dare.
- Scattered signage: place the four coasters around the house like trail markers. One by the bathroom, one at the snacks, one at the TV, one by the door. The whole house becomes the swamp.
Bonus: it stays out long after Halloween. An outhouse on the coffee table is a year-round personality trait.

Gingy Guards the Candy
Our Gingy Cookie Jar is the right size for a tabletop candy stash, which makes it the perfect trick-or-treat station. Set it on a small table by the door and let Gingy do the greeting.

- Fill it with: candy eyeballs. They're spooky, they're snackable, and a jar full of them staring back at trick-or-treaters is peak Shrekoween.
- Set the scene: ring the jar with fake moss and a few mini gourds so it looks like a clearing in the swamp.
- Add a sign: "Stay outta my swamp. Candy is the exception." Or go full Duloc: "Welcome to Duloc. One per guest. Rules are rules." Kids love it. Parents love it more.
After-hours swap: once the porch light goes off, move Gingy inside and fill him with gingerbread cookies for the grown-up party.
The Onion Vase Finishes the Swamp
Every ogre knows it's all about layers. Our Onion Vase is the centerpiece that ties the whole table together, and it's the detail your guests will photograph first.

Build the swamp tablescape:
- Base: a moss-green runner or a burlap strip down the center of the table.
- Centerpiece: the onion vase, filled with a loose bunch of daisies for a sweet-meets-swamp look, or go darker with cattails and dried reeds.
- Layer around it: mini pumpkins, tea lights in green glass, and a scatter of plastic frogs.
- Bring in the cast: line the character mugs along the table as place settings and put Gingy at the far end.
- Mood lighting: green string lights overhead. Dim everything else.
The result looks like a fairytale that took a wrong turn into a bog. Which is exactly the point.
Your Shrekoween Checklist
- Pick your party name and send the invite
- Assign costumes: Shrek, Fiona, Donkey (and one brave Gingy)
- Match each costume to its mug
- Stock the bar and set out the shot glass 4-pack
- Style the outhouse caddy and place the Beware of Ogre coasters
- Fill Gingy with candy eyeballs and set him by the door
- Build the tablescape around the onion vase
- Queue up Scared Shrekless, or the 2001 original for the anniversary
- Green lights on. Normal lights off.
Halloween doesn't have to be scary to be unforgettable. It just has to be a little ridiculous, a lot green, and hosted like you mean it.
That's kind of our whole thing. Twenty-five years in, it's Shrek's too.
